Specific Technical Benefits & Improvements of an Ohm Power Europe Ltd UK PYROHM Appliance compared to regular OWB units

Some of the technical aspects below are new innovations on a Biomass appliance & are subject to pending Ohm Power Europe Ltd patents

Typical competitor's straw bale boiler and external roof mounted accumulator buffer cylinder (insulated and green tarpaulin wrapped) due to low internal water capacity
UK PYROHM are heavy duty robust appliances which are often as much as twice the steel & welding MASS WEIGHT of comparable competitors OWB kWh rated units.
Ohm Power Europe Ltd has bought an indepth up to date scientific, specification & technical approach to an otherwise over looked range of appliances

The factors listed below & other key points create a high efficiency & cleaner combustion Outdoor Solid Multi Fuel Biomass Wood Boiler Hydronic Appliance
UK PYROHM Furnace Chamber 12mm thick BS steel firebox cylinder
UK PYROHM appliances are produced using meticulous QA standards & all major new BS steel components are plasma cut using the latest ultra accurate computer controlled CNC equipment to facilitate assembly precision & also to reduce material edge stress issues

UK PYROHM Furnace Chamber 12mm thick BS steel firebox cylinder & 12mm End Plate Disc Pre-Production stage complete with QA acceptance paperwork
All major welded joints are to British Standard & ANSI oil, petro-chem & structural engineering grade standards & produced to at least twice the physical & density grades required to achieve the necessary stength, rigidity & resistance to thermal warping & fractures
UK PYROHM Furnace Chamber to Flue Riser Outer / Top Weld
For instance our 25mm (1 inch) long & 10mm single radius fillet welds are capable of sustaining up to 500kg of shear force. As an example, our 800mm diameter MIDI Furnace Chamber two End Plate Capping Discs can remain intact with up to 50 metric tonnes of applied shear force

UK PYROHM Furnace Chamber to Flue Riser Inner / Bottom Weld
Consider that on key components subjected to high temperature levels such as the Furnace Chamber to Chimney Flue Box Channel Riser margin we double weld the seam joint both inside & outside that gives a total of up to 1 metric tonne of applied shear force per linear 25mm
Where possible steel plates are rolled in to shape to minimise welding joints required such as on the Water Jacket Tanks which are made with only 4 BS steel plates instead of the normal 6 up to 8 thinner flat sheet sections to form the cube used by others. This maintains the structural integrity & reduces the amount of potential weak spot joint margins
UK PYROHM appliances come complete with a 5 Year Limited Main Structural Component Warranty issued by Ohm Power Europe Ltd covering the Furnace Chamber and the self contained integrated Water Jacket Tank. These appliances can last as long as 30 years if maintained properly in accordance with our Ohm Power Europe Ltd recommended bi-annual DIY Preventative Maintenance Plan
1. Gasification grade combustion process produces cleaner emissions & increases energy efficiency by igniting volatile hydro-carbon emitted gases such as Hydrogen & Methane at higher temperatures up to 1,000C
These gasses are generated in a high temperature chemical reaction >400°C between the Biomass fuel and a limited amount of steam moisture gained from the fuel itself and incoming fresh temperature tempered oxygen as part of the air intake system. The gasses produced in the UK PYROHM Furnace Chamber approximately comprise of a mixture as follows :

51% Nitrogen (N2),
22% Carbon Monoxide (CO),
18% Hydrogen (H2),
6% Carbon Dioxide (CO2),
3% Methane (CH4).
UK PYROHM boilers take this trapped Biomass gas mixture from the top of the Furnace Chamber which also includes unwanted smoke, particulate debris and fumes and then down draft blasts them back in to the main fuel burning area within the Furnace Chamber where they re-combust at temperatures in the region of 1,000°C in a continuous cycle of super heated re-circulation and re-ignition when fresh air is being fan injected in to feed the main combustion process

2. Furnace Chambers come in 6 different rated thermal outputs from 30, 46, 60, 75, 90 & 105kWh & vary in depth accordingly from 600mm up to 3,000mm long to take bulky Biomass fuels such as clean, dry and untreated unsplit log sections, demolition waste timber, production off cuts, peat blocks and straw

3. Furnace Chambers come in 3 different frame size width versions starting from 600mm, 800mm & up to 1,100mm wide. This creates the 6 hour MINI, 12 hour MIDI & 18 hour MAXI fuel capacity models at the 100% rated heat output value. As a result we do not just measure our capacities in litres but also in cubic metres

4. Furnace Chamber walls vary in overall thickness from a minimum 12mm on MINI & MIDI models up to a maximum 15mm on MAXI versions to cope with the elevated Gasification process temperatures

5. Furnace Chambers have a very high volume space to weight ratio capacity capable of taking large single hand fed Biomass fuel loads from 60 up to 600kg at a time
UK PYROHM Furnace Chamber Firebox
 6. Furnace Chamber vortices air recirculation turbulence effect re-ignites loose floating ash & debris particales which also contributes towards producing cleaner emissions

7. Furnace Chamber 4 area stage progressive combustion process, produces a more efficient energy & hydron-carbon gas release from Biomass fuels

8. Furnace Chamber fresh combustion oxygen injection is positive pressure fan assisted which is more responsive than just swing draft dampers

9. Furnace Chamber fresh combustion oxygen fan assisted injection is manually volume variable so that the amount of air delivered can be adjusted to suit the Biomass fuel's burn rate. High rate for dense hard wood logs & low rate for straw, pellets & chippings. This increases the efficiency of the combustion process

10. Furnace Chamber fresh combustion oxygen is pre-mixed seperately with hot air before entering the ignition process to reduce the effects of the "outside cold air impact" & lowering the built up thermal level of the Gasification process temperature

UK PYROHM Access Hatch

11. Furnace Chamber Access Hatch is constructed from 3 x 10mm thick steel disc plates, 30mm in total. The inner pair are formed around a thermal resistant insulation sandwich layer capable of significantly reducing the radiated escape of heat

 12. Furnace Chamber Access Hatch is air lock gapped by at least 200mm to produce a thermal void space reducing the convected escape of heat

UK PYROHM Access Hatch Bridging Spacer

13. Furnace Chamber Access Hatch inner to outer steel disc plate are held together by a horizontal thermally efficient & fully insulated steel bridging spacing channel & reduces the conducted escape of heat

UK PYROHM Access Hatch Inner Closs Up

14. Furnace Chamber Access Hatch has 2 x 15mm fire resistent air rope seals on the inner & outer contact points

15. Furnace Chamber Access Hatch has a blanked off Thermocouple Pitot Tube passing through it so that a probe can be passed from the outside directly in to the Furnace Chamber so that live core temperature readings can be safely taken with the hatch closed

16. Chimney Flue exits below the Ash Grate so that more thermal energy is retained within the Furnace Chamber creating a more efficient core temperature build up

17. Chimney Flue pipe work is load bearing and are capable of taking up to a maximum added extra weight of 250kg of additional extension sections as required

18. Chimney Flue has either a manual night or constantly operating automatic motor driven Damper fitted so that hot air escape from the Furnace Chamber during low demand smolder use can be reduced saving valuable energy and also limiting cold outside air back draft down the Flue and it to the Furnace Chamber diluting the heat

19. Chasis has 4 integral point lifting hoist points

2 Point Only Load Test

20. Pallet support base is rated to take the whole appliance weight when fully loaded with fuel & water, it also comes complete with integral anti-topple forklift rails & can be lifted from either side direction but not front & rear due to hatch & pipe work obstructions

UK PYROHM Steel Pallet Support Base

In basic terms, these Ohm Power Europe UK PYROHM appliances have LARGER Fuel and Water CAPACITIES than regular US OWB units. They are more in keeping with the high heat and intensive water demand of UK & EU central heating circuits such as, perimeter radiators, under floor, air blown heating and clean domestic hot washing water cylinders systems
UK PYROHM are CONSIDERABLY STRONGER. So much so that they can be forklift, HIAB, crane hoisted and can even be safely under slung beneath a cargo helicopter for transportation in to very remote and inaccessible areas
Add to this generally higher level of Overall Thermal Efficiency which produces significantly lower levels of Smoke Emissions makes this range of appliances a truly Superior Quality Product
BS EN14785:2006 for pellets stoves, room heaters and indirect wet systems up to a maximum rating of 50kW, the mean CO concentration emissions calculated with a 13% Oxygen content in the flue gas (mean of at least two results) shall Not Exceed 500mg/m³ at 100% Full Load, 750 mg/m³ at Part Load

UK PYROHM appliances rated at 30, 45, 60, 75 & 90kWh performed and consistently achieved the mean CO concentration as a result of repeated multiple field tests with a 13% Oxygen content in the flue gas was found to be noticeably below the standard maximum CO threshold levels allowed :

Equal or less than ≤ 380mg/m³ at the 100% Full Rated Load,

Equal or less than ≤ 620 mg/m³ between 60 and 70% Part Rated Load value

Variance +/- 10% across the stated product range and therefore the UK PYROHM are within the permitted BS EN14785:2006 tolerance factor standards

BS EN 12809:2001+A1:2004 - Residential independent boilers fired by solid fuel (not residential, external outdoor), nominal heat output up to 50 kW efficiency %, solid biomass stoves shall achieve this minimum value when tested: 75% efficiency at Full Rated Load, 70% at Part Rated Load

UK PYROHM appliances rated at 30, 45, 60, 75 & 90kWh performed and consistently achieved an average overall efficiency % during repeated multiple field tests of:

Approx equal to ≈ 86% at 100% Full Rated Load,

Approx equal to ≈ 76% at between the 60 and 70% Part Rated Load value.

Variance +/- 5% across the stated product range and therefore the UK PYROHM appliances are within the permitted BS EN 12809:2001+A1:2004 tolerance factor standards

In effect, we have found the “ weak links ” in the OWB concept design and improved, strengthened and reinforced them considerably making the UK PYROHM an Industrial grade appliance. After all, a digger bucket on an excavator or a waste skip has to built of thick steel plate with rugged heavy duty welds to survive the stresses and weights it has to deal with. Otherwise, it would not last very long if it was flimsy and weak. This is the same of a Solid Biomass Furnace Boiler. This has to cope with the heat, stresses, corrosive water, fuel impacts etc and still perform
